New Releases from Opus One

A wine that requires no introduction for many of our readers, Opus One is a joint venture between the late Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Chateau Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux. From the onset, Opus One was conceived as a Bordeaux-style blend based on premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and since its debut in 1979, it has remained one of the most profound and sought-after wines produced in the United States. Estate Wine Brokers is thrilled to present the newly released 2017 vintage of Opus One alongside a rare Imperial of the highly lauded 2015 vintage and the latest release of Overture, a multi-vintage cuvée that's perfect for holiday entertaining. All of these wines have been listed at the lowest prices in the country, and the full lineup is below:

Opus One Napa Valley 2017 750ml - $339
95 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Opus One had picked 91% of their fruit before the fires started in 2017, and only two lots were eliminated from consideration. The 2017 Opus One, bottled in July 2019, is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4.5% Merlot and 1% Malbec. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly grows on the nose, revealing compelling notes of baked black cherries, mulberries, black raspberries, warm cassis and blackberry pie with nuances of spice cake, yeast extract, tapenade, licorice and dusty soil with a waft of wild sage. Medium-bodied, the palate has a lively skip in its step, featuring bags of juicy raspberry and cassis-laced fruit and a refreshing line, supported by ripe, plush tannins, finishing long and graceful. Opus One Napa Valley 2015 6000ml - $4,365
97+ Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot and 2% Malbec, Opus One's 2015 Proprietary Red Wine is truly an iron fist in a velvet glove, delivering a powerhouse of flavors and structure with a seductively plush texture. It opens with a deep garnet-purple color and wonderfully spicy notes of cinnamon stick, cloves and fenugreek with a core of cherry preserves, redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie and warm plums plus hints of camphor, lavender and cigar box. Full-bodied, rich and bold in the mouth, it fills the palate with exotic spice-laced black and red fruits, framed by firm, beautifully ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing with epic persistence. Although it is already approachable, allow it another 3-5 years in bottle for its myriad of subtle accents to fully blossom and then drink it over the next 30+ years. (LPB)" (08/2018)

Opus One Overture Napa Valley MV 750ml (2020 Release) - $139
From the Winery: Beginning in 1993 and following in the tradition of great Bordeaux estates, Opus One created a fine second wine called Overture. Every acre of the estate vineyard is meticulously farmed with the attention to detail and singular focus required to produce Opus One. This scrutiny carries through the blending process and certain lots will not be included in the final Opus One blend. Yet, when these lots are afforded additional time in barrel along with the added flexibility of blending across multiple vintages, the final wine achieves a remarkable elegance and complexity.
