Dal Forno Romano stands alongside Giuseppe Quintarelli at the top of the Veneto's quality hierarchy, producing wines of extreme intensity and richness that are highly prized by collectors of Italian wine. The Dal Fornos achieve their singular style first in the vineyard, where a combination of high density plantings and severe green harvesting yields tiny crops of ultra-concentrated fruit. At the winery, the appassimento process (i.e. the drying of the grapes) is followed by a lengthy rest in new French barriques, and the result is a monumental Amarone that is built to last for decades, alongside a Valpolicella Superiore with more power and extract than many Amarones. In addition to the red wines, the family considers the crown jewel of their production to be the Vigna Seré, a passito-style dessert wine that is only produced in the finest vintages.
