Founded in 2013, Estate Wine Brokers is a dynamic startup operated by two wine professionals with over three decades of combined experience in the industry.  In this entry, we will profile our Founder and Chariman Alex Andrawes.

Dallas-native Alex Andrawes has traveled the globe throughout his life. Having grown up in North Africa, Andrawes was fortunate enough to frequent archeological digs which led him to discover a number of ancient Roman wine vessels, sparking an interest in the commodity of wine in ancient Roman and Greek culture.

Andrawes found his way back to Texas to attend the University of Texas where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. It was during his senior year, while drinking at a bar with a friend, that his career path was clear. The friends paired up in 1999 to launch Personal Wine, a gifting service that allows wine lovers to select and design a customized bottle of wine.

Based on the continued success of Personal Wine, Andrawes expanded his wine business portfolio by launching Estate Wine Brokers as well as the recently shuttered Red Room Lounge, a wine bar, retail store and storage facility in downtown Austin.  Additionally, Andrawes recently completed his first book, Investing In Fine Wine: How to Buy, Sell, and Profit from the World's Most Delicious Asset.

Andrawes is a member of Entrepreneurs’ Organization, a valuable resource to any business owner hoping to ensure the future success of their business. His efforts have resulted in a number of recognitions including the Small Business Customer Service Award and Chamber of Commerce Insight Award.

Andrawes currently resides in Austin with his wife, Stacey, daughters, Sophia and Amelie, and their playful pup, Scout.  When he’s not running the show at Estate Wine Brokers and Personal Wine, he enjoys playing his guitar and traveling.
