Investment Opportunity: Insider Information on Bonneau du Martray

Bonneau du Martray is an historic estate based in the commune of Pernand-Vergelesses in the Cote de Beaune that is exclusively dedicated to the production of the Grand Crus Corton-Charlemagne and Le Corton.  The estate has an outstanding international reputation, but at present, their wines do not command the prices typically associated with Grand Cru Burgundy (for example, the average retail price listed on wine-searcher.com for their 2012 Corton-Charlemagne is $179 per bottle, while the average price for Coche-Dury's Corton-Charlemagne from the same vintage is $2,406).  However, after two centuries of family ownership, the estate was recently purchased by American billionaire Stan Kroenke, owner of Screaming Eagle in Napa Valley, Jonata in Santa Inez Valley, and several sports franchises.  Kroenke is rarely interviewed, but a 2007 article published in the Denver Post states that one of his first decisions after acquiring Screaming Eagle in 2006 was to drain 550 cases of the 2004 and 2005 vintages in an effort to manipulate demand (the release price of the 2004 vintage was $500, a 40% increase over the release price of the 2003).  An anonymous source tells us that Kroenke has a similar ambition for Bonneau du Martray, and that his stated desire is to increase the release price of the wines to $250-$300 per bottle within three years.  With this in mind, now is the time to invest in Bonneau du Martray -- superior recent vintages for the white Corton-Charlemagne include 2010, 2012, and 2014, while the best vintages for the red Le Corton are 2005, 2009, 2010, and 2015.  Estate Wine Brokers does not currently stock Bonneau du Martray, but the wines can be sourced from reputable retailers like Hart Davis Hart in Chicago and Sotheby's in New York.
