Chateau Ferriere, a third growth Margaux, was acquired by Jacques Merlaut, joined his portfolio alongside other renowned estates like Chateau Gruaud Larose. Full production resumed in 1992, with wines initially crafted at Prieure Lichine and Lascombes due to the lack of on-site cellars. Today, Claire Villars oversees all family Bordeaux properties. Expanding in recent years, Chateau Ferriere tripled in size, acquiring 13 hectares from Chateau Bel Air-Marquis d’Aligre in Margaux. The vineyard, now 24 hectares, shifted plantings, emphasizing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Certified organic since 2015 and biodynamic since 2018, the estate's wines are now openly available through the Negociant system. For many years the wine was sold only to French restaurants but now it is more widely available.
