WA 90-91 "The Rossignol 2008 Volnay Clos Des Angles – vinified with 40% stems and whole clusters, and tasted from tank – represents a significant volume reduction over previous years as the oldest vines here were planted to an unsatisfactory clone and have been ripped out. Bright red raspberry and cherry with a savory, invigorating salinity and fruit skin impingement lead to a juicy, saliva-inducing mouthful of fruit, with wet stone, forest floor, and bitter chocolate notes emerging on a long finish. More refined in texture if less sweetly generous than the corresponding village wine, this should at least approach decade-long cellar potential. (DS)" (06/2010)
