Newly Released 2016s from Jean Grivot

Tracing its origins back to the French Revolution, Domaine Jean Grivot is one of the great family-owned estates of Burgundy. With considerable landholdings in top 1er and Grand Cru vineyards throughout the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine combines organic farming, traditional winemaking techniques, and modern flourishes to create wines of uncommon class and depth. Estate Wine Brokers is thrilled to present the newly released 2016s from Grivot at the lowest retail prices in the country:

Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits St. Georges Le Boudots 1er Cru 2016 750ml - $215

Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits St. Georges Ronciere 1er Cru 2016 750ml - $185
WS 94 "Blueberry, boysenberry and violet flavors are backed by a firm structure in this expressive red. Balanced and poised for a nice evolution over the next two decades, with a long, tangy finish. (BS)" (01/2019)

Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru 2016 750ml - $1,319
WA 96-98 "The 2016 Richebourg Grand Cru was not touched at all by the frost, so there are the full five barrels this year (sometimes it can be six). It has a majestic bouquet with ample blackberry, raspberry preserve and brown spice scents, later a touch of white flowers and truffle. This is so mercurial in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin. This is beautifully focused, tensile and brimming with energy, yet it remains linear, almost aloof right to the finish, a covert sign that it should not be broached for at least a decade like most great Richebourgs. An aristocrat. You know, pity the poor pro Burgundy reviewer. We spend hours in ice-cold cellars, fingers fighting off hypothermia as they bash away at the keyboard precariously balanced between two barrels. Thankfully, the likes of Etienne Grivot have constructed cozy, warm tasting rooms with tables and chairs, even Wi-Fi. Perhaps none have the eye-catching view over the backyard of DRC and beyond like this address, but it does make tasting a damn lot easier. And when the wines are the caliber of Grivot, then it makes the whole thing an enjoyable experience. (NM)" (12/2017)
