Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, run by sisters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée Mugneret in Vosne-Romanée, is one of Burgundy's most admired family estates, known for pure, elegant Pinot Noir. Their Echézeaux comes from two parcels, and in 2006 hail on one meant the blend leaned heavily on the older massale-selection vines of Rouges du Bas, which yield small, intense berries. John Gilman predicted it would rank among the domaine's greatest Echézeaux, citing black cherry, black raspberry, cocoa, blood orange, violets and striking minerality. Now nearly two decades old, it is entering a lovely secondary phase and should drink well through the next decade.
