WA 90-92 "Consistently one of the benchmark wines of its village, the very dark colored Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Dominodes, made from 94 year old vines, displays an intensely deep nose packed with nuts and dark berries. Its gorgeous, concentrated, powerful, full-bodied flavors display dark fruits, wild berries and minerals. Structured, complex and long, this wine should be cellared for 5 years and drunk over the following 8. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. The wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Pinot Noir, a fragile varietal, reacts poorly to fining, filtration, and careless bottling techniques, I recommend caution when considering buying a red burgundy based on cask samples. I called it as I tasted it, and hope the bottled wine reflects the quality of the samples I was provided. (PR)" (06/1997)
